Kiwi firefighters are set to benefit from the introduction of a new type of technology, the virtual reality. They are doing this to be prepared and train safely for different scenarios.
The FLAIM (Framework for Log Anonymization and Information Management) developed in Australia, simulates in real life situations, and includes protective clothing the generates realistic heat.
It means firefighters can fight big flames and take on the risks of a burning building, all while staying safe.
As well as the virtual reality goggles, a breathing apparatus, heat vest, and interactive hose reel have also been developed.
