Funding For Hamilton To Auckland Rail Service

Funding has been given for a rail service from Hamilton to Auckland.

Around $92 million in funding has been approved for the service, which will launch next year.
Transport Minister Phil Twyford announced the funding on Friday, saying that more and more people are travelling between the two cities.
The train will run from Hamilton to Papakura, where passengers will have to transfer to the Auckland public transport system.
The final aim is to get the train all the way into Britomart which is in Auckland’s city.

Tall Blacks Beaten By Canada

The Tall Blacks have been beaten by Canada by 122-88.

The result comes less than a month out from the FIBA world cup. The Tall Blacks were outplayed for large parts of the game.

Canada was quick on the break, but importantly, made the most of their free jump shots. They lead by 19 by the end of the 1st quarter.

The Tall blacks did improve in the second half, however, towards the end of the game the score blew out to end a disappointing night for the New Zealanders.

The next game is on Wednesday night. Do you think the Tall Blacks will come back?

Kayaking

Last Friday my class went Kayaking at Wero White water park. My dad and Diego's mum went with us too.

When we arrived there we straight away put on our togs and our safety gear on. We then pulled the kayaks out and a paddle each. We finally started to kayak. When I was turning around I tipped over and fell out.

I fell out of my kayak a few times but it was a lot of fun and I wouldn't mind doing it again.

Tech

At tech I've started to cut joints for my project, phone holder. First I had to metre the joint with a tri square. Next I made a joint by cutting it out with a saw.

When I finished cutting the joint I chiseld out the rest of the wood with a chisel and a mallet. After that I put my joint in. It was a bit lose but Mr Grundy will glue it.

I hope I can finish the rest off in the next three weeks.

Wellington Crowned NZ's Fittest City

Wellington has been crowned the fittest city in New Zealand. The study shows that people in the capital are very fit and active.

Wellington had 35 percent trips to work by biking and walking. There is a huge amount that we can do to make our cities more active and encouraging to do new things around your areas, the prime minister says.

It's really about making the right choice and the healthy choice. We need to make the right choice around our community's. What do you think?
